Lookin’ good enough to live in!

The last month has gone by very quickly, and so much has happened! The short version is- we’re all moved into our house! And we’re so thankful.

My last house progress post was just before the new floors and paint were added. Once those two big ticket items were completed, we figured out what else was on the must-happen-before-we-can-live-there list, and everything revved into high gear. We knew that we had to be out of the condo by April 4th, so our goal was to move a week before that to give us some time to clean and do some final fixes on the condo. Trav did a great job of getting the house ready for us to move in. Here are pictures of what the house looked like the day before moving day. So pretty!

DSC_0017I worked my tail off packing up all our stuff at the condo, and on Sunday, March 23rd, we moved! We hired movers (and all our friends collectively said, “Bless you, oh-friends-moving-from-a-place-with-stairs”), and it all went so smoothly. Thank you to everyone who helped us pack and who showed up on moving day to help us unload, get settled, and feel welcomed. It was an exhausting, but fun day!

moving 1moving 2 moving 3 moving 4 moving 5We are very thankful that the Lord made it possible for us to be living in our house so quickly. It feels rather miraculous when we consider how much things changed in just a short time. Escrow closed on February 7th, with the house looking far from livable (see here and here), and we were able to move 6 weeks later into a very lovely home! I’ll post more pictures soon to show what the house looks like now with our stuff in it, along with an up-date on the bathroom (usable, but only half done) and kitchen (cabinets are being built as I type this).

Thanks for all of your encouraging words and interest in our progress! =)

  • Hurray for the successful move!!! Hurray for the family and other workers who helped!!! Hurray for the two people who worked hardest to make a dream become reality–you two!!! And thank you, Lord, for being a God of miracles!!!

    • A little! We’re trying not to be too concerned with them. They’re floors after all! But they are so pretty when they’re brand new.
